My week-end

Posted in family, life, thoughts at 4:17 pm by sillydreamer

Yesterday was my birthday, my 39th birthday to be exact.  I am totally fine with that.  It’s taken me 39 years to be the person I am and I’ve learned a lot of life lessons along the way so I’m content.  Of course, I’m still a work in progress but I’m pleased with my 39 years so far 🙂

Hubby and I have the same birthday, isn’t that cool?  Out of 5 people in our house, we only have 3 different birthdays!  Haley is the only one that has her own day since Heather and Holly are twins.  I was so afraid when I was pregnant with them that I would deliver them on Haley’s birthday, January 8th, but thankfully I waited until January 10th to bingo.  How wild that would have been huh?

Yesterday we all went to see “The Lion King” musical.  It was soooooo cool!  I’m so happy that we were all together and having a good time.  That’s what it’s all about.  I actually wore heels so my feet were killing me by the time we walked alllllllll the way back out to our car lol.

Gotta run and make the little guy some lunch before he falls asleep.  Ta ta for now 🙂

Why is it that I fix one thing and another breaks?  I customized my header this morning and then the picture in my last post disappeared!  I deleted that post, went to Photobucket to upload the picture again and the album for that month is gone.  How does that happen and more importantly, why does it always seem to happen to me?  I know….poor, pitiful me, right?  LOL!  If that’s the worst thing that happens to me today then I think I will be fine.

Tuesday’s 10

Posted in family, life, teen ager, thoughts at 2:45 pm by sillydreamer

10 Random thoughts, observations, statements or opinions

1.  It’s reported that people wearing Crocs (those god awful shoes) are getting hurt in escalators.  Dare I hope that this fad will finally go away?

2.  I am baking blueberry bread this morning and it smells soooo good 🙂

3.  So O.J. is sitting in jail, albeit 13 years too late and for the wrong reason but in jail he sits.  The man got off on two murders so I have no faith that he’ll actually be convicted of armed robbery but just to know that he’s in a confined space for now gives me pleasure.

4.  Parenting teen agers is so much harder than parenting younger children.  I would have never believed that when I had 3 children ages 2, 1, and 1 but it’s true.

5.   I read an article recently about a child who was thought to has autism but turned out to be lead poisoning.  The Dr. that was treating their son had a couple of cases identical to this already so it makes me wonder, in light of all the toy recalls, how many other cases of autism may have been misdiagnosed.

6.  I’m angry at someone close to me and I don’t know if I can get over it.  I have a big problem with forgiveness and I’m trying hard to work on that.

7.  I’m going to see “The Lion King” stage production this week-end and I am soooo excited.  My family and I went and saw “Wicked” several months ago and had a blast.

8.  My favorite cut of meat is a rib eye.  I never order anything else.  The best place to get one is the “Texas Roadhouse”.

9.  My new favorite cleaning product is “Fabuloso”….the purple one.

10.  My computer desk is a roll top desk.  I don’t like it but my husband does and I thought it was very nice of me to agree to buy it and put it in our living room.  I usually don’t go along with things I don’t like so this was a compromise and I’m proud of myself for it 🙂

Do you ever get stumped on a title for your post?  It happens to me all the time so I think there will be no title today.

Not much to report in the way of week-end happenings.  I hope yours was more eventful than mine was.   I’m not complaining though 🙂

3 book reviews

Posted in books, thoughts, TV at 2:56 pm by sillydreamer

I finally finished off “Memoirs of a Geisha” last week.  Eh…..I could take it or leave it.  It was well written but I’m just not much of a fiction fan I guess.  I will rent the movie though because I do think it was worth reading and I’m sure the movie will hold my interest too.

“Welfare Brat” by Mary Childers- I have a hard time saying something negative about a book.  I don’t why, I guess I envision that the author is going to read my words and have their feelings hurt lol.  I loved that this young lady grew up in the welfare system and made a better life for herself.  I think I identified with having the same type of family members that she did too.

“You Can Run but You Can’t Hide” by Duane “Dog” Chapman-Yes, that would be Dog the Bounty Hunter.  I’ve already told you guys that I love reality TV and I love biographies and autobiographies so why wouldn’t I love this book?  I love seeing where people have come from and gone through and how it shapes who they are today.  This man has lived a life for sure.  No matter what you think of his “persona” you have to see that he does try to help people and how can you find fault with that?

Just for the sake of

I know…..I missed “Tuesday’s 10” because sometimes it just works out like that.  I’ll try to come up with something witty and fun for next Tuesday lol.

Do you have one of those people in your life that argue or disagree just for the sake of arguing and disagreeing?  No matter what the subject, they are just going to disagree with you no matter what?  Aaarrgghh, it drives me crazy!!!  And not only are they disagreeing, they have to have the last word.  That’s just a little tiny vent for this hump day.

The stove is dun da da DA….fixed.  Hubby and I got on the internet and did a little research, then a little trouble shooting and got the oven to work.  To bore you with the details, we found that the code means one of two things, a heat sensor problem or a keypad problem.  He pulled out the stove, took the back off and hard wired the heat sensor in and that wasn’t the problem so we peeled off the keypad, cleaned the spaces where the buttons are with alcohol, stuck it back on and it works now.  The beeps sound different than they did before but the oven works so I’m happy.  My hubby rocks, doesn’t he?

And speaking of hubby, he is now on his second day of jury duty.  He hasn’t been called for a case yet but he’s busy doing his civic duty for the second time in a year.  I’ve never even been summoned yet, can you believe it?  Not that I’m complaining about that, just stating a fact.  I’m sure my day will come.

Enjoy your day and thanks for coming by and checking in with me today 🙂

Well, it’s Monday

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:07 pm by sillydreamer

I hope you all had a nice week-end.  Hubby was off so Saturday he and I had lunch at Texas Roadhouse (YUM) and then hit Jo-ann’s.  I didn’t buy anything but what a trooper Danny was for just hanging out and letting me browse until I had my fill 🙂  On Sunday Danny andI took Holly shopping which was really fun.  I like to capture one of the kids and let them pretend they are an only child for a few hours.  She had fun and ended up with some new clothes so it was all good.

That brings us to Monday and, well, it’s Monday.  I think every toy in the playroom has been dumped onto the floor at least once.  I’ve got two kidlets with a steady stream of snot pouring down their faces and one that has his finger permantly shoved up his nose.  And did I mention my oven went out on Friday?  This stove is only 6 years old.  Six!  Does anything last anymore?  I hope the repairman can get to me today so I can find out what’s going on.

Other than all that whining, all is well in my world.   I hope it is in your world too 🙂

Today is glorious because the sun is shining,

because I’m alive

because I’m happy

because I’m healthy

because my family is healthy

because we are together

because I love my job

because I’m living a life I love

because I appreciate all my blessings

because I believe.

I believe in goodness and kindness

and I believe in the power I have

to make my life what I want it to be.

Today is glorious because of love.
