Boring blog

Posted in daycare, thoughts at 2:29 pm by sillydreamer

I haven’t blogged in a few days because I don’t think I have anything worth blogging about.  This gloomy, dreary weather is about to do me in I think.  As I’m typing this, it’s getting dark again outside and I hear a little thunder.

Also, I’m getting a fever blister on my top lip and that stinks!

I am practicing with my rotary cutter and have sewn a few blocks together.  I even called the quilting place here in town but they haven’t printed their newsletter yet so I’ll have to call them back and find out when they have beginner classes.  I’ve found so much information online I may not even bother with a class now.

Not that I wanted to, but last night I bought a new washing machine.  I’ve only had my 9 years but it’s already had 2 issues so now that there was a third one, we decided to just get a new one.  Normally I would be excited about that but we are 9 days away from leaving for vacation so shelling out a few hundred dollars just didn’t set well with me.   What do you do though?  Thank the Lord we have the money to take care of these things and go on.  I feel cheated because I remember as a child, washing machines and dryers last forever.  The first set I had was given to me when I got married and was 30 years old and worked fine.  Gone are those days.  It costs so stinking much to get things repaired, it’s worth it to just buy a new one in the long run.

I just reread what I wrote and it sounds so “woe is me”.  I surely don’t want to leave on that note so here’s a little conversation I had with J (3 yo) this morning.

Me:  J, you are such a special little man to me….you are dear to my heart.

J:  (Looks straight up in my face, puts his hand over his heart) “You are dear to my heart to, Ya.”

Love that kid!!!!

Books and suits and thread, oh my!

Posted in books, family, thoughts at 4:31 am by sillydreamer

I finished reading “Love You, Mean It” over the week-end.  It’s written by four women who became widows because of the 9-11 attacks.  You can check out their website here if you are interested.  It was a very well written book but the subject matter was tough.  Even on the days that my husband irritates me, I’m glad he’s mine and I couldn’t imagine living without him.

The shopping gods smiled down on us today.  Heather got all her shopping done except for a bathing suit so that’s awesome.  The four of us had a really good time and I’m thankful for that.

Speaking of bathing suits, I bought one a few weeks ago and after wearing it a couple of times, I’ve decided that I don’t like the way it fits.  I hate that.  I hate it because a.)I have to buy a new one and that’s an ordeal and b.)I wasted money.  I really don’t like to waste money so that chaps me more than having to go through picking out another one.

I’ve decided that I am going to learn how to quilt.  I really am.  I really haven’t had any desire to scrapbook in a while so I think I need to find a new challenge.  My sewing skills are  pretty elementary but I’ve got determination so, even though I bought a rotary cutter today and feel a little overwhelmed trying it out, I’m going to stick to this.  I used to sew for the girls when they were little and I miss that so I think this will be good.  We have a quilting store here in town so I’m going to call them tomorrow and ask about classes.  I’ve looked online and there are lots of good resources but I think I might need a little more one on one instruction 🙂  Wish me luck.

I’ve enjoyed my 3 day week-end but I’ve got to get myself in bed because the kiddos will be back bright and early tomorrow.

Shopper’s Delight

Posted in family, fashion, Sopranos, teen ager, TV at 1:14 am by sillydreamer

You would think that having three daughters would mean there is massive amounts of clothes shopping to be had here.  Not so.  My oldest loves to shop and will go anytime, anywhere.  Even if we don’t buy anything at all, she’s like me and just has a good time going and browsing.  Holly likes to go if we go into the store, pick out exactly what she wants and then leave.  No browsing for her at all.  Then there’s Heather.

I can’t tell you how much this child hates to shop.  We are two weeks from vacation and she has got to have some new shorts and bathing suit.  I’ve offered to take her every week for the past 6 weeks probably and she keeps putting it off.  I finally put my foot down today and told her that she has to go tomorrow.  Actually, I started out telling her that she could come with me or I would go myself and she would have to wear whatever I chose regardless of whether she liked it or if it fit.  She actually agreed with this but it was just a stupid bluff on my part because I haven’t been able to pick out clothing for my kids since they were probably 5 years old.  So tomorrow will be the day.

I don’t really know why she hates to go so badly.  Hello……she wears boy basketball shorts and T shirts so how hard can it be to pick that out? She’s given me her word that she’s not going to fuss, she’s just going to get up and go.  I swear you would think this child was 5, not 15 sometimes.  How can you not like shopping??  What is not to like?  You pick out stuff you like and you don’t even have to pay for it.  Hello…..I want that arrangement for myself.

I’m sitting here having “Sopranos” withdrawal.  I’m reading message boards and there is speculation that parts of the episodes that we’ve seen this season are going to end up being a dream sequence.  David Chase is big on those anyway so I am going to be super pissed, not to mention confused if some of the major things that have happened really were dream sequences.  I had a hard time accepting that Tony killed Christopher so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s part of the dream.  I just don’t want it to go out like the one season of “Dallas” where the whole season was a dream.  Remember that or does that seriously make me old LOL.

Look at me finally using my categories!!

Raindrops keep falling on my head

Posted in complaints, thoughts at 5:31 pm by sillydreamer

It’s raining again today.  I know we need it but we haven’t seen much of the sun in the past two weeks and I am in serious need of getting some color on this pasty body before vacation.

You know, I used to love Rosie O’Donnell. I still think she does wonderful work for children and different charities but she is such a turn off to me now.  We get it Rosie….you are gay.  It’s not what defines you so you don’t have to keep reminding people.  I don’t need to be reminded of anyone’s sexual preference because I don’t care either way.  Also, being louder does not mean you are right.  It’s your OPINION and we don’t need it shouted at us, over other people ALL THE TIME.  I was so excited when she joined “The View”, not that I watched it before or after her departure, but I was thrilled to have her back on TV.  I was an avid reader of her blog and defended her to people who talked negatively about her but no more.  It’s wonderful to see passionate people who stand up for what they believe in but honestly I think she does more harm than good to those causes.  Best of luck to you Rosie and I hope that you can watch some of the footage from “The View” and see just how you come across.

It’s Friday and woohoo for me, I am off on Monday.  I hope Haley’s glasses are ready so that we can go pick them up at the mall.  For the record I just want to say that I so miss getting discounts on our glasses and contacts.  Full retail price sucks rocks!  LOL!  I think when I burn out on doing daycare I need to go back into the optical field.

Oh man it’s raining hard now.  If this keeps up I will have to cancel my trip to the grocery store this evening LOL.

School’s out for summer

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:25 pm by sillydreamer

Today was the official last day of school for the girls.  Haley and Heather didn’t have to go today at all since they were done with their exams already so poor Holly was the only one to get up early.

Great news…..Heather doesn’t have to go to summer school!!!!!!!!  She brought her Algebra grade up to passing so we can go enjoy our vacation without that hanging over our heads.  We are so happy and relieved!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of vacation, it’s just around the corner.  Now that I don’t have to worry about the possibility of summer school I can focus all my attention and energy on planning our vacation days.  This will be our first trip to Disney so I want to make sure we see it all.  I have moments though when I think about the amount of money that we will be spending and I want to not go.  Isn’t that terrible?  I know once we get there and start enjoying ourselves that feeling will pass.  At least I’m sure that’s how that damn mouse wants it to be anyway LOL.

Gotta run and do some laundry while the kiddos are napping.

Say it ain’t so

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:47 pm by sillydreamer

For the second year in a row, our high school yearbook is in the news.   Last year we even made it into an episode on MTV on a show about high school pranks or something along those lines.  Not our proudest moment by far.

So it’s Saturday…..my favorite day….and I’ve got a list of things to get done.  Sitting here at this computer really isn’t one of them but I always make time for that.  It starts out that I’m going to check my blog, maybe update it and then I start going down the blogroll to see who else has updated.  What in the world did I do before computers?

I hope everyone has a great day.  I’m getting dressed, taking two kids to the optometrist, picking up the other kid from a friend’s house and dropping off whoever doesn’t want to go to the mall, washing and vacuuming out the van, going to the mall to order glasses and contacts for Haley, maybe look for a bathing suit for her, driving back home, going to the grocery store, the library and then bathing both dogs if I have time.  I’ve got to get a move on because the appointment is at 10:00 and I’m still in my pjs and I haven’t even had a Diet Coke yet.

Don’t mind me…

I’m finally getting around to learning how to change up my blog.  Now if only I could remember to use the categories 🙂

It’s a gorgeous day!  The kiddos and I went out and played for a little while this morning while it was cool.  They had a really good time and so did I.  I’m hoping to get out there this afternoon after they leave and catch a little sun so that I don’t have the exact same color as milk.
