And we’re off….

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:15 pm by sillydreamer

to another fun filled week that is.

It’s 10:00 and I’ve written one check for banquet tickets, got a call for an additional $175 for drill team stuff, used a power tool (a drill) and unhooked and hooked up the wireless router.  This computer is working so I’ll go check the laptop in a few minutes.  You know…it’s just always a crap shoot when it comes to me doing that.  I’m surprised Danny didn’t get up when he heard me using the drill LOL.

I’ve got to call and complain to the florist and the windshield repair people because the flowers that were delivered to Haley were practically dead and the windshield repair person cracked my dash, peeled up some trim on the top of my van and didn’t seal the bottom seal of the windshield.  Can ANYONE do ANYTHING right?  I am not a complaining person….I never call and complain but I am this time.  I’m not asking for money back or anything like that, I just want them to know their service sucks.  I’m sure they don’t car but it will make me feel better to tell them.  I’m not exaggerating about the flowers one bit.  The water was totally murky with nasty crap on the bottom of the vase and the flowers were all wilted and the edges were all brown.  Seriously, when my flowers start looking like this I throw them out.  How in the world could someone deliver anything that looked like that?  It’s winding me up just talking about it now.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.  I’m going to go test the wireless connection….cross your fingers 🙂

Happy Sunday

Does everyone know and love Craig’s List as much as we do?  As we speak, I am sitting on my couch updating my blog with the laptop we bought through Craig’s List.  It just rocks!  If you know me, then you know I am Miss Thrifty when it comes to buying something so getting a very nice laptop for not a lot of money makes me happy 🙂  I’m just cheap like that LOL.

Yesterday was tryout day for the drill team.  Haley made it again and her friend Rachel made lieutenant!!!!  We are so proud of her and happy for her!  I know the two of them are going to have another great year on the line together.  All of the girls work very hard and it shows when they perform.  Before we know it, football season will be here.

I need to get off here and get busy.  It’s supposed to rain all this week so I need to do a few things in the backyard while I can.

I know this might make me a horrible Mother but there are some days when I want my kids to be grown and gone.  Even writing it down makes me feel such shame but sometimes I just want to be done with the teen age years.  Today would be one of those days.

I love my kids dearly but sometimes they make me want to pound my head into the wall.  I have to really work hard on remembering that they are just teen-agers but that sometimes is the part that makes me the most scared.  In just 3 years they will be legal adults….actually 2 for Haley.  YIKES!

How do you make a child understand that she has to do her work in school?  How do you make a child understand that the junvenile delinquent friends she has are only going to get her into trouble?  How do you make a child understand that the bad haircut (which really looks fine) isn’t the end of the world?  How do you make a child understand that I don’t care what everyone else’s Mom lets them do, I only care about my children?

Love is a funny thing isn’t it?  Sometimes I am so overwhelmed with how much I love these kids and sometimes I am so overwhelmed with wanting to pitch them right out the front door LOL.  My saving grace for feeling like this is knowing that there are days when they feel the exact same way about me!  I used to think when they were babies that that would be the most difficult time in raising them.  Boy, oh boy was I ever wrong!  I never agonized over the decisions I made for them as babies like I do now that they are teen-agers.

I guess I will just keep doing what I feel is the best for them and hope that it all turns out alright in the end.  When they’re babies you joke about not getting the instruction book but I could sure use one to refer to from time to time 🙂

Gentle Reminders

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:03 pm by sillydreamer

I just love kids (most of the time anyway lol).  I love how they can take the most simple, mundane thing and turn it into a lesson for me.

Over the week-end I had taken the carseats out of the van and put them in the back.  Danny has been taking our kids to school so today was the first day that I needed them put back in as I was taking the girls to school.  H wasn’t here yet so I put K in his seat, (don’t worry, I readjusted all the straps to fit her) and put J’s seat in and we start backing out of the driveway.  H and his dad round the corner so I pulled back in and put K’s seat in the back for H (also adjusted straps to fit him lol).  Off we go to school.

All the way there and all the way back H and K cooed, chattered and clapped.  Usually they are very quiet in the morning but being a different spot in the van really made them happy.  It’s as if they were seeing things for the very first time just by sitting in a different spot.  Their happiness and laughter put a smile on my face.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all “see” things from a different spot.  We walk along in life seeing things “our” way but take some time, step out and look at things from a different angle and it might be surprising what we find.

Thank you K and H for that gentle reminder 🙂

10 things I own and love

1.  My TV in the kitchen….an undermount with a flip down screen, DVD player and radio-I use this thing every single day!  I listen to the radio in the morning and flip on the TV while I am preparing lunch for the kiddos.  I was fine with my little 5 inch black and white tv but Danny really wanted me to have a new one so thank you honey 🙂

2.  My bagless vacuum cleaner-I love emptying it out and seeing all the dirt I’ve picked up…..INSTANT GRATIFICATION and I am all about that!

3.  My expresso machine-I bought a little cheapie Mr. Coffee expresso maker and LOVE it!  It’s the best $30 I’ve ever spent.  If you love cappucino you really should get one of these too.

4.  My Sony Cybershot H2 digital camera-another gift from hubby that I love and cherish.  How did we survive before digital cameras??

5.  My playroom-a little odd you think but this is my daycare room and I am so blessed to have a separate area just for my little ones.

6.  My van because it’s PAID FOR 🙂

7.  My computer-can you even imagine not having a computer with internet access these days?

8.  My memory foam topper on my bed-this is heavenly to sleep on 🙂  I can’t tell you how much I love crawling into my bed with that thing on there.  It totally rocks!

9.  My sectional-it’s got the dual recliners and a fold out bed but most importantly it’s soooo comfortable.  We call it Napster because it makes you want to lay down and take a nap 🙂  My last couch was chosen for the looks and was the most uncomfortable piece of furniture ever made.  When we bought this one, we took the whole family to the furniture store and sprawled out.  We were quite the site!  LOL!

Last but not least..

10.  My scrapbook supplies-I have tons of stuff, so much that it’s almost shameful but I love it all.  I enjoy pulling out all my different paper and embellishments and working on a project.

Mall rats

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:08 pm by sillydreamer

I think the girls and I have officially become mall rats since we’ve been there twice in a little more than a week.  We buckled down yesterday and found the prom dress so that’s a good thing.  We also found some earrings to match and ordered the wrist coursage so we’re in good shape.

Heather also got some shoes that we both agreed on.  Agreed might be too strong a word, maybe consented is better.  She has wanted some Heelys FOREVER so after seeing the shoes she really wanted, the Heelys were a good second.  You see all these little kids rolling around in the stores on their Heelys but Heather will tell you, it’s much harder than it looks.  Please don’t let my kid be the one that falls and breaks her arm or cracks her skull in these shoes!

Haley had her Spring Show on Saturday night and all the girls danced so beautifully!!!  I’m the dork mother that tears up for just about every number!  LOL!  I hate to see what it will be like when Haley is a senior.  Of course, just thinking about that makes me tear up too.  I’m pathetic.

If you love FREE ringtones then check out www.myxertones.com

I’ve used this site for awhile and I really like it.  All you do is set up your free account and you can choose what is there or, my favorite, make your own.  There are lots of Stevie Nicks tones on there that people have made but you can also upload your own demo (sshh) and choose the part of the song you want for your ringtone.  I love it.  I’ve even uploaded theme songs from old TV shows like “HR Pufnstuff” and “The Bugaloos” (that’s really showing my age isn’t it lol) and used those.  Anyway it’s really cool and really free so that’s even better so check it out if you get a chance.

I’m Shameless

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:56 pm by sillydreamer

I am an avid reader and always have been.   One of my favorite things to do is go to the library and choose a big stack of books.  I am always so excited to come home and get started on them.

The last month or so I have started probably 15 books and not finished one.  Not a single one.  About 3 chapters in I lose interest.  What is up with that?  Most of my reading is biography, autobiography or some true crime story.  It makes me feel like I am rejecting someone by not finishing their story LOL.  I even switched over to  fiction just to take the pressure off myself and I still can’t get through one.  Maybe I just need a little break?
